Drivers between Woodbridge and Perth Amboy are facing major delays after a large crack tore through Smith Street.

Officials say the damage stretches about a quarter mile and will require months of repairs.

The closure runs from Highland Avenue to Convery Boulevard, with all traffic being detoured at Judy Drive.

Woodbridge Mayor John McCormac says the road damage may be linked to construction at a nearby warehouse complex.

Crews from Middlesex County are assessing the area, and there’s concern about underground utility lines and nearby homes.

The mayor says trucks are a major issue in the area, and protecting properties is a top priority.
