A small plane crashed into a wooded area of Howell Township Wednesday night.
According to state police, the plane did not hit any homes when it crashed in a park near Shenandoah Road a little before 8 p.m. Police say the plane caught fire after impact and the mayor of Howell says the pilot has died. The mayor also says nobody else seemed to be on board.
Police say the plane took off from Monmouth County Regional Airport, but they are unsure of its destination.
