Storefronts have been changing along Fordham Road but small businesses say they are being pushed out.
Large chain stores moved into the area as a result of a new Business Improvement District (BID). Many shoppers say they enjoy getting everything they need along one strip of stores. However, some mom and pop storeowners say they can?t compete with the big names and may be forced to close.
BID organizers say small improvements will be made to the area in the next few months, including better lighting and more seating. They add business owners can expect better promotion of the area with advertising.
