Six New Jersey Department of Treasury employees pleaded not guilty to official misconduct charges stemming from possible kickbacks Tuesday. The Attorney General's office says the workers accepted lavish gifts from a company contracted to collect unpaid taxes. The treasury officials are accused of accepting dinners, entertainment, golf outings and spa treatments from 1999 to 2005. The gifts allegedly came from two workers at OSI Collection Services while the treasury was deciding on a possible contract extension with the company. Those workers also face criminal charges. Lawyers for the state workers say the case is completely overblown and plan to prove their clients are innocent. All eight workers were released without bail and have been suspended from work without pay.
