(05/17/06) JERSEY CITY ? The accusations are flying between two candidates in New Jersey?s 13th Congressional District primary race.
Democrats Albio Sires and Joe Vas are lobbing tough accusations at each other as the race heats up. One of Sires? new television ads has created quite a stir in the New Jersey political community. In the ad, Sires accuses Perth Amboy Mayor Vas of siding with a sexual predator over a 14-year-old victim and a drug dealer over the police.
Vas says Sires should make those accusations face-to-face, not over the airwaves. He also claims Sires refuses to a debate on the issues. According to Sires, a debate should be the least of Vas? worries. Sires says his challenger should be more concerned with Perth Amboy?s lack of a budget and potential tax hikes.
