A sinkhole closed down a major road in Union County.
The sinkhole is believed to have formed Saturday afternoon on Watchung Avenue in Plainfield.
Though it is only a few feet in diameter, it’s much deeper and at risk of collapsing. Police have closed off Watchung Avenue from East Front Street to Pearl Street.
Officials told News 12 that repairs won’t begin on the sinkhole until Monday.
