Thousands of people nationwide have participated in protests demanding police reforms, and now fears of a spike in COVID-19 cases are increasing.
In New York, Gov. Andrew Cuomo encouraged all that participated in protests to get tested, expanding its testing facilities to thousands of protests.
There are things to keep in mind if you’ve protested and are unsure about getting a COVID-19 test. Here are three tips from Gizmodo:
1.
You should get tested if you can, but you don’t have to say that you were at a protest.
2.
If you aren't able to get tested, you should act as though you may have been exposed. Limit your contact with other people for the next two weeks, says Gizmodo.
3.
Some develop the infection two days post-exposure, but 5 to 14 days after is more common. So getting tested the day after the protest isn’t going to determine if you’re now infected.
