(05/18/06) LAWRENCEVILLE ? Some young students at Ben Franklin Elementary School in Lawrenceville took a short but informative field trip Thursday to learn about safety.
The students walked around the block near their school building. While the trip may not have represented one of the most exciting school activities, it could end up saving their lives. Teachers and representatives from NJ Safe Kids pointed out important safety tips to the children about their walk to school. The trip was part of a campaign called ?Walk This Way,? which teaches children important pedestrian habits.
In addition to the walk, the students sat up in a delivery truck. This showed them how difficult it can be for truck drivers to see small children running out in front of the vehicle.
