Students at Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch may have had their social security number and other personal information stolen due to a data breach that is affecting the school.
School officials say their network was compromised back on or about April 13. They say information such as social security numbers, driver’s licenses, financial and medical information could have been stolen.
A notice from the school says as part of an investigation, school officials have been working closely with external cybersecurity professionals experienced in handling these types of incidents.
School officials contacted those who were affected on Friday with notification letters. But officials are asking employees, parents and students to monitor their personal accounts for any fraudulent activity.
