Shooting near Newark school injures man and woman waiting for bus

Two people were shot outside a Newark high school Thursday and are in stable condition, according to police.Police say a man in a gold Mazda pulled up to a corner bus stop near University High School.

Two people were shot outside a Newark high school Thursday and are in stable condition, according to police.Police say a man in a gold Mazda pulled up to a corner bus stop near University High School. The driver of the car started arguing with a man waiting at the bus stop when he got out of his car and began chasing the man. According to police the suspect fired a number of shots, hitting the man and grazing a female bystander. The two victims are in stable condition.Mayor Cory Booker said he was alarmed at how close the shootings happened to the school. He had already singled out the area for more police patrols to try and reduce intimidation and gang violence around the school. Police are searching for the suspect.
