Shocking new video of the man who punched a Newark police officer as he was being questioned now shows he pretended to have a gun at a 24/7 mart -- the day before his arrest.

The body cam footage shows Charles Miller punching a cop back on April 21 at the Sunoco Gas Station on the corner of Washington and Court streets.

Police were called to the same location a day earlier, Saturday morning of April 20, looking for him.

On that day, workers say walked in and tried to steal cigarettes.

The workers chased after him, but then say Miller claimed to have a gun.

“He put his hand in his pocket and said, ‘I have a gun I have a gun,’” says manager Mishel Dadon. “So then all the people were here hiding, running away from him, and then he ran away."

The next day, Miller returned -- and so did police.  Police body camera captures the officer calmly speaking to him when Miller suddenly throws a punch. 

It's not the first time Miller has been caught on camera acting erratically. 

Back in 2017, Miller was accused of punching Bishop Manuel Cruz during a Mass at Sacred Heart Basilica. 

He said he did it because he believed the Catholic Church played a role in police brutality.

In the latest incident, he's been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
