Family and colleagues of an off-duty police officer who was fatally stabbed held a vigil in her memory on the Grand Concourse Wednesday night.
The vigil was located outside the apartment where Arianna Reyes-Gomez was found dead Monday.
There were many members of the NYPD, some who worked with her, as well as others who didn't.
Candles and flowers were placed by those who are vowing to not forget Reyes-Gomez's name.
Reyes-Gomez was stabbed early Monday morning. Police say she was the victim of domestic violence. Her estranged ex-husband was arrested and is charged with murder.
Domestic violence awareness groups also attended the vigil, including WARM, a group whose founder is a survivor herself.
Reyes-Gomez's sister, Julissa Reyes said she was a caring and loving human being.
"She was one of the greatest people anyone could've known. She had a clean heart, not because I say, but because it was true," Reyes said.
Reyes-Gomez's wake is scheduled for Thursday morning at the Riverdale Funeral Home at 10 p.m., which will be followed by a prayer service.
