The dog that was sexually abused by someone in Newark has found a new home with the Tinton Falls vet technician who took care of her.
Police say the 10-month-old pit bull mix, Katie, was sodomized in January. She was hospitalized for two weeks after the incident and cared for by doctors and technicians. Galina Yatentuk was the technician in charge of the intensive care unit Katie was in.
While Katie was recovering, the Associated Humane Society received hundreds of applications to adopt her. However, society officials say the choice was easy. That?s why they gave Katie to the technician she bonded with. Yatentuk says she is very excited to be able to adopt Katie. Meanwhile, the society is offering a $12,000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of the animal abuser.
