Several children were hurt Wednesday afternoon when their school bus was involved in a crash on Route 280 in Newark.
New Jersey State Police say that the four-vehicle crash happened on Route 280 westbound near the border of East Orange around 3:18 p.m.
The crash involved the school bus, a BMW, Mazda and Ford. Police did not release many details about the crash, but helicopter footage showed that the bus has crashed through a guardrail on the side of the road and was partially hanging in a wooded area.
Police say that the children were not seriously injured. The children, along with the drivers of the Mazda and Ford and a passenger, were all taken to University Hospital to be checked out.
A portion of Route 280 was closed for a time while the crash was cleared.
