The Senate is reportedly expected to pass a budget Monday that would give the city more aid for school construction projects.
According to the New York Times, the money set aside in the budget would give the city the funding it needs to complete this year?s portion of its five-year school construction plan. Some education advocates argue the budget does not provide enough aid for schools. Some feel Mayor Bloomberg should also be pushing for more funding for classroom programs.
Meanwhile, a judge recently ruled the state owes the city $9.2 billion in construction money and eventually $5.6 billion in operating aid. However, the city has not received that aid because the state is appealing the judge?s decision.
