Police: Security guard stabbed while trying to break up a fight outside Marlton restaurant

Officials say Marcus Brown was in a fight outside The Chicken Or The Egg restaurant in Marlton when a security guard stepped in to break up the fight.

A security guard was stabbed Saturday at The Chicken Or The Egg restaurant in Marlton, according to Evesham police.

Officials say 28-year-old Marcus Brown, of Voorhees, was in a fight outside the restaurant when a security guard stepped in to break up the fight. They say Brown stabbed the security guard twice. The guard was transported to Cooper Hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to police.

Officials say the knife used to stab the victim was recovered on scene. They say Brown attempted to flee after the stabbing, however he was detained when police arrived. He was also transported to Cooper Hospital for injuries he sustained during the incident.

Brown is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon. He is being held at Burlington County Jail pending a first appearance in Superior Court.
