A popular Sea Bright beachfront bar and restaurant has partially reopened after it was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
Donovan's Reef reopened the Tiki section of its business this weekend.
The Tiki bar is just the first step in the rebuilding for Donovan's. Next, the owners hope to rebuild the restaurant and full bar, which they say was demolished by a 40-foot wave.
They plan for the floor of the bar to be atop the sea wall, so the entire deck and building will be above ground. They hope to have it open to the public by next spring.
The family-owned-and-operated Donovan's has been in operation since 1976. The Tiki hut over the bar was the only part of the business that survived Sandy. It was found floating near the parking lot after the storm.
