A Saddle Brook Boy Scout is making New Jersey proud with his Eagle Scout project inspired by his sister.
Mike Maniscalco says he wanted to transform Avon Park so that special needs kids could come and play. He raised $30,000 and helped to rework the playground.
He says that he was inspired by his sister who has special needs.
"I watched the kids playing on the playground and unfortunately, it wasn't safe or special-needs friendly,” he said. “I began finding a way to repair the playground."
The playground is now complete. Maniscalco says that he got the idea back in February.
