With the first day of school around the corner, Schools Chancellor Joel Klein addressed concerns for Bronx and city students at a forum Friday.
Klein announced that students can expect to receive specialized reports from their guidance counselor outlining the state?s requirement for graduation. Klein said as the curriculum becomes more rigorous, he wants to make sure students are prepared and says the reports will be available in several languages. Klein also called on parents to become more involved in their children?s educations.
He addressed other issues, such as the ongoing debate over cell phones in the classroom. Klein said while he understands parents are worried about safety, efficiency comes first in the classroom.
