A transformer at Marlboro Middle School blew Monday, knocking out phones, Internet, electricity and heat shortly after students arrived.
Students who were unable to use cell phones to call home say they spent the day stuck in the cafeteria. The district's public information officer told News 12 New Jersey to leave the property when asked for a comment.
According to police, the middle school may be closed Tuesday if replacement equipment is not immediately available.
