The Wayne Township School District is starting so-called “wellness weekends” for students.
Teachers will not be assigning any homework on three different weekends this school year.
School officials say that the idea is to take some of the pressure off the students and have them spend more time with their families.
“An opportunity for families and students to connect, also for the teachers and their families, where they have no obligations to the school system,” says Superintendent Dr. Mark Toback. “There are only three of them per year… so hopefully that will provide families with some relief and some opportunities to get together and do things that they may not be able to do."
The weekends are part of a bigger wellness initiative that the district developed earlier this year.
