Football fever is in full effect for fans of the Rutgers pigskin squad despite opening the season with a loss.
The Scarlet Knights kicked off their season hosting Fresno State. Rutgers ended up losing 24-7.Before the loss, tailgaters ushered in the season with an all-day party outside Rutgers Stadium.
"Good grub, good people, good games," says Franklin resident Mark Peterson, a pre-game partying champion for more than 25 years. "Our tailgating is by far the best."
As Labor Day marked the end of summer, fans marked a highlight of fall. Partiers told News 12 New Jersey the day was all about good times.
"You need to be addicted to fun," says Ridgewood resident Jill Rota.
