The Salvation Army of Ocean County is making sure that families in the region have gifts under the tree this Christmas.
Volunteers from the Lakewood Blue Claws and other local businesses helped hand out presents to hundreds of families. It is part of the Salvation Army’s annual Toy Shop.
“Every child got a variety of gifts. A couple of large, kind of mainstay gifts – hats, mittens, games. Even the families have a family gift table so they can get something for the entire family,” says Major Stephen Ditmer.
Because of the generosity this year, the Salvation Army is sending all of the leftover presents to the Providence House of Catholic Charities to help bring joy to more children in Ocean County.
