Rutgers women lose national championship game
The Rutgers women's basketball team fell short in the NCAA Final Four championship game Tuesday night, losing 59-46 to the University of Tennessee.
The Scarlet Knights dropped behind early and never recovered in its bid for Rutgers' first national championship. Rutgers made an unexpectedly strong push in the tournament and finished its season with a 27-9 record.
Candace Parker led the Lady Vols (34-3) with 17 points and earned Most Outstanding Player honors. The title is the first since 1998 for Tennessee and the seventh in the program's history.
