A Rutgers University professor who teaches about anti-fascism is temporarily moving to Europe due to death threats.

Dr. Mark Bray teaches history and is the author of the book “The Anti-Fascist Handbook.”

Bray became the target of a petition from Turning Point USA, the group founded by conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The group sought to have Bray fired because of comments it said Bray made in support of Antifa – a left-wing anti-fascist political movement.

The professor says his political views are being twisted.

“I'm not the thing I write about. I've never been part of an Antifa group, not now or in the past. I support anti-fascism, and so far as I don't like fascism,” Bray says. “I disagree very vociferously with everything the Trump administration is doing, but I am not the thing I'm being accused of.”

Bray says he will teach is classes remotely. He says he hopes things settle down enough that he can return to the U.S. at the end of the school year.
