The Rutgers University Police Department is investigating an arson and aggravated assault situation.

Police say the attack happened Sunday near the Center for Vector Biology on Jones Avenue in New Brunswick. They say two people assaulted the victim and set his belongings on fire. The fire also damaged a door to a nearby greenhouse.

The victim was not seriously injured. Police say the victim and the suspects previously had a verbal dispute at a local store and that the suspects followed him before the attack.

A description of the suspects was not made available.

Police say that while the incident happened near campus, none of the people involved are affiliated with the university.

Anyone who might have information is urged to call the Rutgers Detective Bureau at 848-932-8025.
