A trip to the national semifinals is on the line for the Rutgers men’s lacrosse team.
The Scarlet Knights defeated Lehigh last weekend to earn the team’s first NCAA Tournament win in more than 30 years.
Rutgers advances to the national quarterfinals and will now face the No. 1 overall seed North Carolina this Saturday.
“We just have to play our game, believe within our system and make the right plays and be fundamentally sound and I think we’ll be good,” says senior defenseman Zach Masessa.
A win against UNC would be historic for the program. Not only would it be the first time Rutgers has won multiple games in an NCAA Tournament, it would also be the Scarlet Knights' first-ever trip to the Final Four.
“We’ve been working hard all season and we don’t look too much into rankings. We know how good we are. We fear no one and we’re excited to play the best and be the best,” says senior midfielder Michael Sanguinetti.
Rutgers will take on North Carolina in the national quarterfinals this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on the campus of Hofstra University.
