All lanes heading into New York City by way of the Lincoln Tunnel have reopened this morning.
Emergency repairs forced the closure of two right lanes on Route 495 east bridge in North Bergen.
Crews began the repairs Wednesday afternoon on the approach to the Lincoln Tunnel between the tolls and Route 3.
The work caused major delays for drivers during the evening commute.
Crews are repairing a damaged bridge deck joint.
Department of Transportation officials say permanent repairs will start this weekend. The two lanes will again be shut down Friday at 9 p.m.
The work will continue until the repairs are complete.
