A Rockaway teacher is facing new sexual assault charges after an ongoing investigation revealed a second victim, Bergen County prosecutors announced Thursday.
Officials say Kurt Zimmerman was accused of sexually assaulting a student between the ages of 16 and 18 while he was employed as a teacher at Morris Hills Regional District in Rockaway.
Zimmerman was previously the band director for the Westwood Regional School District where he was charged with assaulting a student in January, according to prosecutors. They say the student was between the ages of 13 and 17 and the sexual conduct happened on more than one occasion at the middle school and the high school in Washington Township.
Zimmerman was arrested Wednesday in Rockaway and charged with three counts of second-degree sexual assault.
He’s being held at the Bergen County Jail pending his first court appearance in Hackensack.
