Ongoing road work was the reason for a road closure in Bayonne Wednesday morning, and not a water main break as originally reported by officials.
Crews were repairing parts of John F. Kennedy Boulevard near West First Avenue around 6 a.m., prompting detours in the area.
The intersection was the location of one of three water main breaks that impacted the city Tuesday.
Repairs on those water main breaks lasted until late in the afternoon.
Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis told News 12 New Jersey that the city’s aging infrastructure is causing the issues with the water mains.
