Road Trip: Fun at Adventure Aquarium in Camden

Maybe you and the kids enjoy visiting aquariums and seeing all the animals, especially the sea turtles. Well, you're in luck because Adventure Aquarium in Camden offers you the chance to hang out with some photojournalists, Mike Roberts with the help of our very own. Kimberly Kravitz brings us this week's road trip close to home. Did you know that sea turtles could be up to £400? I was able to interact with them up close and personal on a special sea turtle encounter right here at the Adventure Aquarium in Camden's. So we have a pretty amazing aquarium. I'm not gonna lie. I might be biased, but it's pretty great. We have the largest collection of sharks in the northeast, including a great hammerhead. He's in charge who runs the kingdom. It is Queen Bob. She's been here. She was the first animal to go in water at the aquarium 31 years ago. And she has been running this exhibit ever since we are really, really passionate about conservation efforts. So you can touch sharks stingrays and it's a really great way to get people exposure to things they wouldn't see on a daily basis. You know, and it makes it more accessible for our community. Welcome to the top of ocean realm. So we're gonna be doing our sea turtle encounter today. So we're gonna be going down on our sea turtle dot So we get to feed the sea turtles and scrub the show first time for everything. A little nervous, but I'm sure they're very friendly. They are very friendly. We'll give it a shot. So the whole reason that we're here is to feed the sea turtles. So it's something new for me. So, Colleen, you're gonna have to kind of work me through this. So loggerheads eat mainly meat. So we have some mackerel in here for her today and everyone has to eat their veggies. So we have a few of those in there as well. And then for our green sea turtles, they have mainly vegetables and our little sea turtle gel and everyone gets calcium supplements to help beat the shells nice and strong and then I'm gonna feed them with my tongue's not. Everyone can afford to go down to the Galapagos Islands and dive with turtles, right? But here you get to see those sea turtles and they really act as ambassadors for the environment. Who wants it. There you go, buddy. I have never been that close to a turtle before but I think what was so interesting to me is that their lunch looked a lot like something I would make for myself. I mean, it's fish, it's fruit and vegetables and you even have like a little supplement in between. Hi, Cutie. There you go. So, it's amazing how similar they could really be to us. Humans. I've always had a passion for the ocean and marine life. So working here was just the thing that I was gonna always do, inspiring generations to love the planet. Feels nice, right, to love the earth and give back. And then, you know, we're part of species survival plans. So we're really dedicated to a lot of these endangered species, making sure that we're keeping that gene pool fresh and having these animals around for generations to come.
