A Riverdale bakery has been filling decades of bellies to become a family and a borough favorite. Mother?s Bake Shop has been serving sugary goodies for more than fifty years. It was also voted one of the best in the borough by Zagat Survey. Riverdale residents say the old fashioned bakery has become a staple in the community. The owner says the secret to his tasty cakes, breads and cookies lie in the brick ovens and in the kosher ingredients. They have also converted all of their ingredients to whole grains and low fat. The owners of Mother?s Bake Shop say they?ll soon be expanding the bakery to include a café.
