"The Rock's" ribbon has been cut.
Newark?s new 19,500-seat Prudential Center, nicknamed "The Rock," opened for business Thursday with a full day of festivities. It is the first arena built in the New York/New Jersey area in 25 years.
Garden State natives Bon Jovi will perform 10 shows to open the arena. The first performance is set for Thursday evening, capping off the Prudential Center?s celebratory events for the day.
New features of the Prudential Center include a lounge and bar area and a mural celebrating the Devils hockey club. A full-size practice facility is also being built adjacent to the new arena.
