Reports of gunfire at the Willowbrook Mall in Wayne on Tuesday night prompted a large police presence and caused some delays with New Jersey Transit.
Wayne Township police wrote on Facebook that they were investigating reports of “shots fired” at the mall. Officials wrote that there were numerous officers on the scene.
Officials with the department said that the incident occurred inside the food court of the mall and that, apparently, one shot was fired. They say multiple people were seen running from the scene.
No injuries were reported. Police say some people were detained for questioning.
A spokesperson for Willowbrook told News 12 that the mall was “the unfortunate location for an isolated incident.”
Videos posted on social media showed multiple police vehicles stationed at the mall’s entrances, and some police officers inside the mall.
NJ Transit reported that bus service traveling to and from the mall was subject to 15-minute delays due to police activity.
