Rep. Frank Pallone has locked down $750,000 to help a Monmouth County community project.
The money will be used to assist with the Matawan Lead Pipes Removal Project. It identifies and removes all lead service lines in the borough.
Officials say that since 2021, the borough has identified 150 service lines that need to be replaced.
"By eliminating potential sources of lead contamination, we're taking proactive steps to safeguard community health and restore trust in Matawan's water supply,” Pallone wrote in part.
The multi-year plan to provide safe and clean drinking water begins this year and will last until 2028.
