Travelers at Newark Liberty International Airport experienced significant delays Monday.
The FAA reported delays of up to 90 minutes on inbound flights and between 30 and 40 minutes on departing flights throughout the day. The delays were apparently due to the rainy weather and low visibility.
The post-holiday delays were the opposite of last week, when there were very few problems reported. Airlines had extra staff on duty to try to avoid delays and President Bush opened up airspace usually reserved for the military.
Some travelers who spoke with News 12 New Jersey said they lucked out Monday and didn't experience long wait times. One passenger waiting for a flight said she is retired and will simply read a book or talk on the phone if she experienced any significant delays.Related information: FAA
