Puppy nuptials were front and center at a very special Valentine's Day dog wedding ceremony on Friday.

The Suffolk County SPCA arranged the special event in Hauppauge, where dog owners helped their furry friends down the aisle.

 

The event was to raise awareness about the work the SCPA does, and to showcase local animal shelters and rescue organizations.

"I took today off. It's a nice change of pace, and who wouldn't want to be around a lot of amazing animals?" says Maria Trommer, mother of one of the "brides."

After the ceremony, the dogs were treated to a free luncheon complete with their own wedding cake and prizes for the best costume.
