Puerto Rico native helps lead UB women's volleyball

welcome back everybody. The UB women's volleyball team is often running to start the season. The Purple Knights already have two road wins under the old belt. The early season success. Thanks in large part to players not originally from the 50 United States. One of those players, sophomore paola Hernandez, now in her second season with you be the 2021 E. C. C. Rookie of the year is looking to take things to the next level this fall. Hernandez started playing volleyball at the age of three. That's how quickly they get you on the courts in Puerto rico. Her senior year of high school was 2020 right in the middle of the covid 19 pandemic. And if it weren't for her father having lived in Bridgeport for a couple of years, she may have never found the school. She's very athletic, super powerful. She picks up the game quickly. She's becoming a smart player, she's only in her second year but she's already getting good court savvy and becoming a leader on the team. I love these girls, they're like my second family now, I just love the sport and I just wanted like to play like my goal is like to play professionally, like go like after college, I keep playing Purple nights next home match september 29th big changes are coming to boys and girls high school basketball.
