Protests to keep ICE agents out of neighborhoods in New Jersey are taking place in Newark and Asbury Park.
It's an act of solidarity with those pushing back against immigration arrests and raids in Minneapolis.
The protests are taking place across the country Friday.
Those involved are refusing to go work, while some businesses are shutting their doors for the day.
People taking part say they are angered at the violence and arrests, including the shootings of Renee Goode and Alex Pretti.
Those in Asbury Park protesting on Friday are in favor of Gov. Mikie Sherrill’s plan to create an ICE portal, which would alert immigrants when federal agents are targeting a specific neighborhood.
“Unfortunately, we’re going to need to create some ICE watch. It’s up to the citizens and our community members to make sure accountability is held. Through watching ICE reporting and recording ICE,” said Joy Morgan.
She was part of a small group of people along Main Street in Asbury Park who are against the immigration round-ups.
Trump administration officials have suggested the deportations will continue.
They add that there won’t be a draw-down in Minneapolis, unless agents are allowed access to jails to detain immigrants.
