A woman is recovering after a police shooting in Clifton, which prosecutors say was justified.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a woman slumped over in a car Wednesday night. Authorities say police opened fire when the woman suddenly drove off and tried to run over officers. According to Passaic County Prosecutor Jim Avigliano, four officers opened fire, hitting 34-year-old Michelle Moleti six times in her neck, chest and arm.
Moleti is listed in guarded condition. Police say two officers were injured in the incident.
Avigliano says the shooting appears to be justified, according to police guidelines.
Moleti could face charges, including attempted assault and attempted homicide of a police officer.
