Prosecutors have brought new charges against a Newark housing inspector accused of abusing his power along with several women.
Albert Foster, a 44-year-old Newark Section 8 housing inspector, was arrested in January and accused of sexually assaulting a woman inside her Chadwick Avenue apartment. Now, four more women are making similar allegations against Foster.
According to the prosecutor?s office, the common thread in the alleged assaults was Foster misusing his authority by turning legitimate appointments for inspections into an opportunity to sexually gratify himself.
?Without going into details, we do have him using inappropriate parts of his body to come in contact with women who?ve come forward,? says Essex County Prosecutor Paula Dow.
The new charges against Foster include fourth-degree sexual assault, criminal restraint and official misconduct. Foster?s bail has been raised from $50,000 to $250,000. His lawyer says Foster will enter a not guilty plea to the new charges.
