(07/13/06) EAST BRUNSWICK ? An 11-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his 12-year-old friend.
Prosecutors have also charged the boy?s 46-year-old father and 72-year-old grandmother in relation to the incident. Police say the boy facing charges, identified only as M.G., took a .38 caliber weapon and shot Alexander Khoudiakov in the head last month. According to investigators, about 100 firearms and more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition were discovered in M.G.?s home. They say many of those weapons were loaded and easily accessible to the boy.
M.G. has been charged as a juvenile delinquent with aggravated manslaughter, aggravated assault and hindering the investigation into the death. The father and grandmother face charges of endangering the welfare of children, possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine and failure to prevent a minor from accessing a loaded weapon. Investigators say M.G. pulled the trigger intentionally, not during horseplay. However, they don?t believe he knew the weapon was loaded.
