Authorities in Atlantic County have announced the arrest of 30 people following a four-year drug investigation.
Prosecutors say Steven Martinez led the operation from jail. They say he used cellphones smuggled in by a correctional officer.
Shiraz Khan is also accused of helping to lead the ring. Martinez and Khan allegedly distributed heroin, cocaine and opioids.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner says additional charges and more arrests could be coming.
"There are numerous other crimes that we continue to investigate. We are continuing to unpack the structure and to get more information on the people that were involved, and we're going to go as far as we can," Tyner says.
Shemar Scott, Deshawn Hose and Martinez are also facing murder charges in the 2019 shooting death of a man from Atlantic City.
