The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office says a taxi driver was found with fatal gunshot wounds near a motel in Hazlet.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, officers from the Hazlet Police Department were called to the parking lot of 270 Route 36 on Saturday at approximately 7:18 a.m. after the body of a man was found on the ground near a large, outdoor trash container. Authorities say the victim had sustained "multiple gunshot wounds.
The prosecutor said in a statement that the victim, identified as 42-year-old Anthony Hill, of Eatontown, worked as a driver taxi driver. According to his obituary, posted by
Fiore Funeral Homes, he worked for the Yellow Car Company for 18 years.
"An investigation by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office – Major Crimes Bureau and the Hazlet Police Department is currently ongoing," the prosecutor added.
Authorities would not specify if a suspect has been identified.
