An Elizabeth man accused in a fatal stabbing has been charged with first-degree murder, according to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities say 52-year-old Jose Melo stabbed Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado Monday morning at a home on Florida Street.

Melo has also been charged with third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and one count of fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.
