Prosecutor’s office: Man criminally charged with killing father in home they shared

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man from Matawan has been arrested and criminally charged with killing his father in the home they shared earlier this year.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man from Matawan has been arrested and criminally charged with killing his father in the home they shared earlier this year.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Kenneth Knapp Jr., 31, is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree desecration of human remains in connection to the death of Kenneth Knapp Sr., 58.
Police responding to a request for a welfare check Sunday, May 1 at a residence on the 200 block of Matawan Avenue found the body of Knapp Sr. in the basement. The finalized autopsy report issued last month revealed the cause of death was blunt-force trauma, with the manner of death being homicide.
An investigation led to Knapp Jr. being identified as a suspect.
