The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is probing a
Friday evening double shooting in Trenton that left one man dead -- the first
homicide in three months in the city.
The shooting comes just days after Mayor Reed
Gusciora praised a reduction in crime.
Police received a Shot Spotter activation and
several calls for a shooting around 7:30 p.m.
Patrol officers responded to the 200 block of Spring
Street and located two shooting victims.
According to authorities, Rasheed Barlow, 35, of
Trenton, was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities say a 38-year-old man suffered a
non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
In the last year, there has been a 62% drop in
shooting homicides in the city, but
the mayor says their work in reducing crime is not done -- it has just begun.
