Prosecutor: Old Bridge woman faces child endangerment charges after fire

An Old Bridge woman is facing charges after a fire broke out at an apartment building on Cottonwood Lane, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say that Estela Onofre-Maceda, 31, left four children unattended during the early-morning hours on Sunday. A fire then broke out at the building around 6:30 a.m.

Two of the children were hurt and were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. They are expected to be OK.

Officials say that Onofre-Maceda also left three children unattended at the apartment building overnight on Friday into Saturday.

She is facing seven counts of child endangerment charges.
