No arrests have been made, but Newark Mayor Ras Baraka stated that the search is on for the killer.

"The killer should know— we are coming after you. We are not going to rest until we find you, so turn yourself in now,” Baraka wrote in a statement.

Essex County Sherriff Amir Jones has announced a Crime Stoppers Program reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible.

Officials did not provide any details about the suspects. Community members expressed their grief at the situation.

“We don't know what this situation happened for, but we know a kid got shot and that’s devastating to our city. This is one of our worst fears that we could ever think of is somebody killing our future,” says Khalil Tutt, of the community nonprofit New Direction.
