One person was killed and another person was injured in a shooting at a hotel in Fairfield, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Officials say that the shooting happened Friday afternoon near the Ramada by Wyndham on Two Bridges Road. They say that one person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators were seen outside the motel using evidence markers to document shell casings and taking fingerprints on the front door of the hotel.

The prosecutor’s office says officers are still looking for the suspect. But they say there is no threat to the community.
